First Queenscliffe run

19/3/2012

I've just returned from a two-day sail to Queenscliffe and back, but not aboard "Endurance". Peter Wilson, an old Torquay friend and local legend, has recently bought a Catalina 36, "Mizan" so we're taking turns in sailing on each others' boats.
It's all good experience, despite the boats being almost opposite from each other in design and construction apart from their common basic purpose, which is to be a cruising sailboat. But I enjoyed the trip, and "Mizan" performed well and is a comfortable and forgiving cruiser.
The Queenscliffe run was easy, motoring all the way out there in a soft headwind, but having a cracking sail on the way home from the Port Arlington corner of the bay, with the odd 22 knot gust to keep us awake.

    Grant the
    bloggist.

I'm writing this blog primarily so that I can remember what we've done....it doesn't take long for all of these experiences to melt together and become confused in memory.
It's also a great way of keeping in touch with others, and if I can entertain, and/or enlighten someone else, it's a bonus.
The archives go back to the beginning of our adventures since sailing out of Geelong.
